Pancit is a popular Filipino dish made from noodles. In this recipe, we are referencing how Cebuanos usually make ther pancit (noodles). In the Philippines, it is usually served during family gatherings, events, and milestons like weddings, birthdays, baptisms, graduations, birthdays, or even during holidays like Christmas or New Year's Day.

Known for its delicious taste and filling capabilities, bam-i is a great snack or a meal in itself. You can easily make your own version of bam-i using this recipe! If you are not a huge fan of pork or shrimp, you may use alternate meat like chicken for this dish, or no meat at all. Just adjust the ingredients based on your preference. Ingredients

  • 1/4kg pork, cut in strips
  • 8 ounces flour sticks pancit canton noodles
  • 8 ounces sotanghon, soaked in water
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 cup carrots, julienned
  • 2 pcs red bell pepper, julienned
  • 1 cup green beans, cut in small sideways
  • 1/4g shrimp, peeled and deveined (optional)
  • 4 pcs green chili peppers, diced
  • 5 cups water
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 3 cups cabbage, cut in strips
  • 1 cup green onions, diced
  • 2 tablespoon cooking oil

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a pan. Sauté garlic and onions.

  2. Add the pork and shrimp, stir and cook for 10 minutes. Then put in the carrots and bell pepper then mix.

  3. Add in the green beans and mix.

  4. Pour the water and simmer for 15 minutes until pork is tender. Season with soy sauce, salt and black pepper.

  5. Add the Sotanghon noodles, followed by the pancit canton noodles. Combine together thoroughly until the liquid is gone.

  6. Lastly, add the cabbage and green onions and mix. Cook for around 3-5 minutes.

  7. Transfer to a serving platter. Serve and enjoy!
