Chang (a restaurant serving Asian-American cuisine, founded by Cecilia Chang) is the first ever credited restaurant which put the lettuce wraps on the food map.

Ingredients

  • 500g ground pork
  • 1 fresh butter lettuce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1 green onions
  • 1/2 cup mushroom
  • 1 medium sized onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp white sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 2 tbsp water

Directions

  1. In a small bowl. Mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, minced ginger, cornstarch and water. Mix very well.

  2. Heat a frying pan and add the vegetable oil. Saute onions and garlic until light brown. Add the ground pork and stir. Sprinkle the salt and pepper.

  3. Add the mushroom and the sauce that you made. Stir well together and cook for 10 to 15 minutes or until the pork is cooked.

  4. Now that your wrap filling is done, assemble your food by placing lettuce in a plate. Open the lettuce and start putting your pork mushroom filling about 1-2 tablespoons (depending on the size of your lettuce).
